While Dark Souls caters to a play style that’s more defend and guard, Bloodborne aims to make players take chances in combat using weapons that can switch forms such as a hammer that can be altered into a sword. Players will face a multitude of creatures such as werewolves and monstrous beings that were once human in combat that is fast and visceral. While not set in the medieval time period like its predecessor, Bloodborne has a very unique setting that seems to take place in a mid-19th century. You are a hunter and to avoid being the hunted you must fight to survive against those who once were humans. Upon awakening you are now alone in the room and are indeed about to head into what most would consider a living nightmare. You then faint upon seeing beasts encroaching upon you. The old man then states that you’re about to experience a very odd adventure that will seem more akin to a nightmare. Standing over you is an elderly man claiming that he must give you blood to allow you to survive. Now without making you wait any longer let us look at some of the future games that you will want to play if you love Dark Souls as much as we do…despite the utter frustration sometimes. From games that boast a more Japanese setting to going into a twisted future scape, these games will make sure that you feel the same essence that Dark Souls has given players so much rage and joy in equal measure. That being said it’s obvious that other game companies would want to capitalize on that success trying to find the mechanics to match the beauty that only Dark Souls can give to players. This is Dark Souls, the game that can enrage most gamers but fill them with utter jubilation upon a hard earned victory. You stare at a death screen, scream in anger and then run back to face the threat again this time just a bit smarter and after a minute you are victorious, reclaiming the souls you lost upon death and feeling happy for at least a brief moment till the next battle. You dodge the first few strikes, defend, and then unfortunately die because you didn’t see two skeletons come from behind you. The moment you get mauled by a swarm of skeletons, your hands sweat and you grip the controller tighter.
